Why Visit
The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda (大雁塔) is one of Xi'an's most iconic landmarks, standing 64 meters tall with seven floors. Built in 652 AD during the Tang Dynasty, it was designed by architect Youn Vayas as a memorial to honor the Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by the famous monk Xuanzang after his 17-year pilgrimage. The pagoda's elegant octagonal shape and brick construction have made it a symbol of ancient Chinese architectural achievement. Today, the surrounding area is a beautiful public park with fountains, gardens, and a spectacular musical fountain show.
